He barely has a drive as is! I would assume it’s a serious injury but he’s coming across as a wimp after Alonso came back so quickly from last year’s wreck.

Was it Giovinazzi? Kid’s been killing it in GP2, it’s great to see him get a chance to drive. Sucks for Wehrlein though, didn’t realize his crash was that severe.

Reading into it Wehrlein’s not actually injured, he just feels like he’s not in adequate enough shape to drive after taking so much time off for his injury (which is a really mature move actually, you have to remember that with the aero and tire increases these cars are far more physical to drive than the 2016 ones and the last thing you’d want is a driver unable to properly control his car at the end of the race because of his neck or arms or whatever starting to go).

For sure. Wasn’t saying it was a bad decision, I’m just aware how much pressure he’s under and there are so many interpretations of what’s going on. I’m impressed that he’s standing up for his well-being and taking a step back.

Crashes don’t work that way, it’s not as simple as saying Alonso’s impact was “greater” therefore Pascal shouldn’t still be hurt. It’s very possible Alonso was “hurt less” because he was in a seat molded to his body, while Pascal was in a “one size fits all” seat and possibly moved in the seat, which is where things really start to go bad.
